Has the business that you once loved building become a source of exhaustion, worry or burnout? - Leadership burn out deserves its own focus

Hi Reader,

We can’t talk honestly about leadership without talking about burnout.

And burnout doesn’t only happen to people who can’t handle the pressure.

It often happens to the people who have handled too much for too long.

High-performing leaders are rarely exhausted because they’re incapable of hard work. They’re exhausted by what they’ve been carrying while doing it:

  • Solving problems other people should own.
  • Absorbing the emotional weight of the team.
  • Managing relationships that constantly require attention.
  • Holding responsibility without enough support, boundaries, or shared ownership.

That’s why rest alone doesn’t always solve leadership burnout.

Sometimes burnout isn’t a recovery problem. It’s a design problem.

You can take a vacation and still return to the same systems, expectations, behaviors, and responsibilities that depleted you in the first place.

A better question may be:

What about the way I’m leading needs to change?

Ask yourself:

  • What am I carrying that isn’t mine?
  • What am I tolerating that is quietly exhausting me?
  • Where have I become the fixer instead of the leader?
  • What needs to be redesigned so resilience isn’t required just to survive my business?

Burnout may not be telling you:

“You can’t do this anymore.”

It may be telling you:

“You can’t keep doing it this way.”

Tomorrow, August 31, Bonnie Bonadeo, Brigitte Sobus, and I are opening up this conversation around leadership burnout...what causes it, what it can reveal, and how leaders can begin creating healthier ways to lead.

This isn’t about doing less because you’re incapable.

It’s about learning how to lead without carrying everything.

Join us tomorrow at 3:00 PM Eastern.

Salon & Spa Marketing for 2026

Hi Reader, For years, salon marketing has revolved around a familiar formula: Post on Instagram. Collect Google reviews. Send an occasional email. Keep your website updated. Hope new clients find you. That formula is changing. Consumers are beginning to use AI-powered platforms to research businesses, compare options, ask for recommendations and decide where to spend their money. Which means the question is no longer simply: “Can people find my salon on Google?” The new question is: “Can AI...
